Australian Citizenship

Australia accepts applications for citizenship by conferral where the applicant is:

• A permanent resident
• Is of good moral character
• has spent at least the last 4 years in Australia before applying with at least one of these years being as a permanent resident
• Meets the residence requirement – Has not travelled for more than 12 months out of the previous 4 years before applying, including no more than 3 months in the last 12 months before application. 

There are a number of exemptions to the resident requirement for senior executives, sports persons and spouses of Australians.
